Not since the days of Vietnam and Watergate has America been so divided.  Citizen trust in government has plummeted.  The rise of social media and the decline of traditional media has radically changed the role of public communicators.  How do we survive in this toxic atmosphere?  How do we thrive?  How do we restore pride in public service and foster civil discourse in our communities?  One of the founders of 3CMA, Santa Monica City Manager Rick Cole, draws on 35 years of experience as a citizen commissioner, Mayor and government executive to challenge us to do our best work and help lead America toward a rebirth of citizen engagement and local democracy.
